Our History

Compañía Agrícola de la Sierra (CAS) was founded in 2006 in the northeast of the Antioquia Department, Colombia. It is the realization of the dream of two Chilean families with more than 50 years of experience in the forestry industry. Today, CAS operates across nearly 24,000 hectares of land, of which 60% is dedicated to the cultivation of Pinus tecunumanii,a valuable timber species. The remaining 40% is dedicated to environmental protection, including conservation areas for flora, fauna, and native forests.

Our Team

At CAS, we have a passionate and committed team that has significantly contributed to the formalization of the timber sector in Colombia under fair and safe working conditions.

Each team member brings their knowledge, skills, and experience to plan and execute large-scale reforestation projects, ensure the quality of our timber products, promote sustainability in all our operations, and build lasting relationships with local communities.

Production Cycle

This is the initial phase where the objectives of the forestry project are defined, the land conditions are evaluated, and a detailed plan of activities is established, from planting to harvesting. Factors such as soil type, climate, species to be planted, and available resources are considered.

In this stage, the selected forest species are planted. It involves preparing the land, planting the seedlings, and providing initial care for the young trees to ensure their survival.

This consists of a set of activities carried out throughout the forest's life to ensure its growth and health. Tasks include pest and disease control, pruning, thinning (removing trees to encourage the growth of others), and fertilization.

This is the stage where mature trees are harvested from the forest. The trees to be cut are selected, felling is carried out, and the timber is extracted from the forest. It is essential to perform this activity sustainably, respecting the environment and ensuring replanting.

The wood extracted during the harvest is subjected to various industrial processes to transform it into useful products. These processes may include sawing, drying, chemical treatments to protect the wood from pests and fungi, and the manufacturing of final products.

Commercialization involves activities such as pricing, product promotion, and distribution.
At CAS, we are committed to sustainability in the timber industry.

Forest management has both environmental and social impacts. Environmental aspects include biodiversity conservation, soil and water protection, climate regulation, and carbon sequestration. Social aspects refer to the benefits that forest management can bring to local communities, such as job creation, economic development, and improving quality of life.
